LFCC adequately prepared me for my 4-year degree, however many of their professors are hit or miss. Some of them may equip you indispensable skills and ready you for your next academic step, while others might spend their entire class time talking about their personal life and then wonder why you're not grasping the material. In all, I appreciate the professors who challenged me and the classes that I found the most difficult, while the "easy ride" professors, I regret attempting to learn from. A piece of advice, if a professor sounds difficult but fair (per rate my professor), take their class. It will help you in the long run, especially if the class applies directly to your major. Just don't make your life harder by taking core classes from professors who are easy, because they barely challenge your thinking. You will have a lot of catch-up to do in more advanced classes.
Lord Fairfax is a great community college to go to if you're interested in having more free time and want to save money. It is also a good school to go to if you're unsure in what you want to study. The professors are extremely helpful and care about your education. I feel as though the classes lacked challenges because most of my finals were open note, or I didn't have one at all. I barely had any homework or felt the need to study because I had already learned most of the material from high school. I took some online classes and some in person classes. The professors made sure you knew exactly what you needed to know for upcoming tests or quizzes. I had an amazing experience with my advisor because she helped me find classes that were right for me or suited me for my future. I feel Lord Fairfax could do a better job with creating involvement for student life.
Lord Fairfax is an amazing college with great staff and a great campus. They also provide students with great resources while they are working to advance their education. Overall, the college cares about its students and works very hard to maintain great student connections. I would however like to see more events for online students to connect, such as hosting virtual games through zoom or etc.
