I enjoyed the fact that Lawson State was close to home and offered the program of study that I was interested in. The professors and other instructors were very nice, and definitely provided an environment that was condusive to learning. I was allowed to participate in the social organization which centered around the major that I had chosen, serving as it's president for a year. I also enjoyed attending some of the different sporting events held on campus. These are some of the reasons that I will be returning to Lawson State Community College to complete another associate's degree, in which I will ultimately transition into the bachelorette program at Alabama A and M University, taking classes for the university at Lawson State.
I love lawson state! I am a current student who feels I’ve had the best and just as much opportunity as any other college or university. My education has definitely been cared for by this institution and all faculty has been working hard to make sure all students will succeed. It has its challenges like any other school but this is definitely one I am proud to one day call my alumina.
Lawson State is such a loving, caring environment. So much quality growth happened during my time there. I still remember most of my professors nearly 5 years later. That's how impactful this experience was. Professors Masi Masi, Weymon Holloway, Carlos Morris, Shelly Millender, Aisha Lewis, Kelvin King, and one young white sister who taught US history. I can't remember her name.
Anyway. All of them were kind, competent, and caring. Having come out of high school underprepared, they gave me a rich foundation that allowed me to graduate from Fisk University and move on to my first year of graduate school. I love, love, love Lawson State and am so grateful to have gone there.
