Going to KU has been the best decision I made in my entire life, as well as the best thing that has ever happened to me. From debating world issues in Model UN to traveling to Washington DC to work with advocacy groups, I had an unprecedented number of political opportunities this year as a political science major. Both the academics and the extracurriculars have been amazing. Although I dreaded having to take general education courses in college, KU gave us much leeway in what types of courses we could take to fulfill our requirements. From cultural geography to anthropology, the gen ed courses that we could choose from were far from a limited selection. In fact, I can even get away with taking a social science course to fulfill my science class requirement! My spare time on campus was occupied by the many political, academic, religious, and recreational opportunities that I’ve never gotten before, and I was never bored after studying and classes were done.
I have attended Kutztown on three separate attempts towards my BA, I have always been treated with respect and kindness by staff and administration. The campus is well kept, the community promoted there is accepting, the professors are excellent. I look forward to graduating 12/22 and becoming an alumni, and beginning my masters program in Fall of 23. Golden Bears!
Kutztown provides a lot of great opportunities. The school gave me a desk receptionist job, which I am very grateful for. The school doesn't treat all its members well. It often times diminishes the plight of minority students. And forgoes basic steps at attempting a safer environment. There public safety officers never receive the appropriate training, and they are very laxed with who gets those positions. Also, as a student, the financial aid offices are often times very cold and condescending. The teachers of the school were not allowed to continue teaching via Zoom, despite one of those teachers having very serious health problems and complications. Overall, the school presents itself as very diverse and accepting, but this is often skin deep. It even had a White Teacher teaching a course about Black History.
