At ksuA, I feel the overall atmosphere is very positive. It seems like the students are confident and understand what they are there to do, which I believe is because of the teachers, directors, and more. The staff is very eager to help students and make their time at Kent Ashtabula worthwhile. I previously attended Kent Trumbull, but it felt less connected. People would go to class and just go about their day. However, at ksuA, the faculty allows it to feel more like a family, as we are all working towards the same goal-to get a degree and excel. The campus is also in a great location where students can explore and branch out so they don’t feel so tied down in just a school/work environment. Overall, I’ve had a great experience here.
This is my first semester at Kent State - Ashtabula. So far being a full-time worker while having them guide me through my program and finding a way for me to work towards my degree has been amazing. My academic advisor was able to pull some things together to get me going when I applied in late December when I decided I wanted to attend their nursing program. I would highly recommend anyone to the campus if they're interested in obtaining their associate in nursing.
Most of my professors were good teachers from whom I was able to learn the material. While I didn't need a lot of help, I felt that they were accessible should I have had an issue.
I did have a problem with an online professor who failed to teach or grade anything. The school eventually remedied the situation, but not until after finals that semester.
There were many places to study there, with multiple computer labs and printers. The bathrooms were also fairly clean.
The admissions staff was not well informed as to high school requirements for CCP students. When I had a problem with the one professor, it was difficult to get ahold of the appropriate people to deal with the issue. They were unable to give me my transcript for my own records (being homeschooled) there.
With everyone being commuters, the student life there was pretty quite.
Ultimately, I had a good experience there and thought it did well for my academic career.
