I went to Jarvis on a summer scholarship program and was supposed to leave at the end of the program. When it was time for the program to end I was offered another scholarship to stay and attend the school year. I didn’t want to to stay because the school is small and it is in a little small country town. I am from the big City and use to the City Life. But, my mom convinced me to stay and except the scholarship. I was then offered a scholarship if I would stay at Jarvis to play basketball to represent the school. It was not my desire to play basketball because I had played my whole childhood and I was tired of playing. But, since I needed money to pay for school I decided to play and accept the scholarship. My sophomore year I became a cheerleader and received another scholarship. I am so glad I decided to stay at Jarvis because it’s like a family school everybody knows everybody. All of my teachers have been very good at helping me stay on track to graduate.
I love my HBCU Go Bulldogs! :) These last 3 years at Jarvis have been the best. The staff are very helpful and caring. Not only do they do their job, but they also build friendships with their students make them known that they are cared for and not alone! I wouldn’t have chosen any other HBCU !
Jarvis Christian College was a big change in my life. This was the only school I’d attended to for 4 years, and must I say I have experienced good and bad times. Being here was definitely a roller coaster, I got meet new people, staff and student body. I enjoyed the professors who supported me and helped me along the way. However, I would like Jarvis to change the dormitory’s. A few of the dormitories on campus were not taken into consideration enough. I wish the staff could have taken things more serious. Our community need to learn to stick together, and be open and kind a lot more as well. Overall, my experience was okay… thank you.
