Review Ivy Tech Community College - Southwest
Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville Indiana is an excellent place to go! The professors are very understanding and will help you through your classes. All the employees at Ivy Tech are willing to help you in any way possible. They have a big commons area where they have multiple job fairs and excellent food there. They also have a group called student life that plan activities for the students there. They have done activities such as; tie-dying shirts, serving breakfast to the students, bringing in performers to entertain the students, and much more. Ivy Tech is all around an excellent college to attend.
The online classes are alright. They could definitely use some improvement. There are times where the work load is very heavy such as three to four assignments that week, a paper, and a test all in the same week. So sometimes it is difficult. The registration process is very easy. The peer-to-peer interaction is very well on the discussion boards for assignment.
The Academics offered at my school is a good selection. However, it is not as diverse as most schools because most students attend Ivy Tech to achieve their general studies and then transfer to another college that is better suited for them and their major of interest. I have had very great professors that were thorough with their material and syllabus, and elaborated on subjects students misunderstood, and also made themselves available during their office hours and via e-mail. Recently, I picked up a paper that had ideas of how to better a students study habits. I followed the advise listed and it not only improved my grades but also the amount of material I learned and retained. In my philosophy class, me and a couple of other girls organized a study group; in which each of us completed a certain task (vocabulary cards, outlines, etc) and it helped us better understand the material and also have a group discussion about how the other students viewed and interpreted the material.
