We have an absolutely AMAZING program that I have personally been recently accepted into. It's the TRiO program which is a program that is open tutoring for anyone in the program. It has been wonderful so far getting to know the staff which is mostly all volunteers. They only accept 160 students at a time and I am honored to say I get to be one of them. As far as my specific major they have a great program and that's why I chose to personally go there. Every teacher is different and everybody learns differently. I personally have been on the Dean's list for the first 2 semesters and the 3rd semester I thought I was going to be fine, however I quickly realized that Anatomy and Physiology was way harder than I ever expected. This is why I joined out TRiO Program. I have to retake this class unfortunately. The workload depends on the class and the teacher. Some teachers give more homework than others. You should always allow a minimum of 3 hours per credit hour per class so if your class is 3 credit hours allow a minimum of 9 hours available for the week to study and do homework for that specific class. Curriculums vary throughout depending on the field you intend on going into. The facilities are very friendly and easy to find. There are people in every building that will be willing to help you find something if you would happen to get lost. They are very friendly people around there, although as with anywhere you go there are some that are just plain rude. However, the majority are extremely friendly if you just ask! As far as internship/job opportunities they have several on and off campus that they have posted all the time.
I really like Ivy Tech Northeast because the tuition is really affordable, the classes are easy to find because the campus isn't huge and the classes are small which I like. I also like that the school is very clean and it is a pretty good driving distance from my home. The only thing I didn't enjoy that Ivy Tech Northeast were some of the professors I have had. Two in particular were very mean and rude to their students and didn't show much respect either. It makes me wonder if they forgot that this is a school, not an actually restaurant.
I have really enjoyed my experience at Ivy Tech! I can not wait to transfer to Valparaiso University to finish my degree in Elementary Education. I have had amazing professors so far, they make you feel like you are successful even if it isn't at a four-year college. When I go to the campus needing help on a project they always have tutors available to help you understand something that you might not have understood in class. Something that is great is that when I leave at night I don't feel afraid because they always have security on the campus. All in all I have loved my experience at Ivy Tech and can't wait to see what's in the future!
