I think that Iowa Western is a very good community college as a whole. The campus is beautiful with great academic and sports facilities. Teachers are for the most part very understanding and often ready to adapt if you're an unproblematic student. On the athletic side, it’s most definitely one of the best in the country if not the best and provides in most disciplines (soccer, football, volleyball, track and field...) a lot of visibility and therefore, opportunities to transfer to major 4-yr universities as we built a big name and more than often go to nationals. On the downside, I’d say that coming from another country, I feel like school is very easy and I don’t know if it will prepare me well for university. Food is quite bad if you ask me. The campus is quite distant from the city which can be a good thing or a bad one depending on what you want (the nearest city is Omaha, Nebraska which is a 20-minute drive from campus). Student help for emergencies is quite bad in my opinion.
Iowa western is a great community college. Coming from a city where community colleges only offer classes and no housing, sports, or extra activities around campus, Iowa western is a community college that does it all. Have you ever wanted to go to a University and Enjoy a real college experience without paying a full university price? Well, Iowa Western offers The college experience at the price of a community college! You can live on campus, play a sport, and even participate in Activities hosted around campus!
Iowa Western has been my first experience in a community, thanks to this school I traveled from my native country to be part of the volleyball team. Iowa Western has the best athletic programs in the NJCAA, plus all of their teams finish in the top 5 every season. Academically it is perfect since it has technological facilities and resources that benefit the student. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable, facilities with a lot of space and a variety of housing prices. Selection offers a lot of support to students, through financial aid. Without a doubt, Iowa Western is the best option that anyone could choose.
