I have had a great experience being a student at Iowa State University. I am currently a student majoring in Kinesiology & Health with a minor in Psychology. I have been able to take coursework that is unique and beneficial to my career goals of becoming a nurse. The professors have helped me achieve my goals and are there to help you achieve in ways specific to each student. Through this university, I have been given various opportunities including being President of Doctors Without Borders Student Chapter, Undergraduate Research, and being an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. This university will not only allow you to grow academically, but also intellectually. I have gained communication skills, leadership skills, and lifelong friendships from studying at this university. Not to mention the beautiful campus and positive atmosphere of the campus! I would recommend Iowa State University to anyone that is searching for colleges.
I'm confused as to why people are rating Iowa State on here based on the online format. Essentially every school in the nation has switched to hybrid or online. Online learning can be difficult, that is for sure, but literally every college student in the country is dealing with this. Therefore, why take stars off for the transition to online classes being difficult? Go take stars off society or something, its not ISU's fault.
I would have rated Iowa State four stars before my senior year. Professors are good, overall great community of people, school spirit is high, nice nightlife and the athletics are fun (although we're the masters of upsetting ranked programs and then losing to weaker BIG12 competition, which is grating as a fan).
However, since my senior year as a SCM major I have to say I'm more than impressed! The professors at the 400-level in the college of business are elite in terms of their passion, intelligence, mastery of material, and care for students. 5-stars!

One thing I loved about Iowa State how the campus does such a wonderful job of making the campus feel like home. Iowa State is a pretty big school, but it actually feels so small. Iowa State has provided me with so many wonderful opportunities to make friends and gain more leadership skills. This was my first year at Iowa State and I joined a lot of clubs and organizations. I joined a sorority called Alpha Gamma Delta and gained a leadership position as director of the sophomore experience. Iowa State has a wonderful Greek community that really enhanced my first year at ISU. I also got involved in the Newman center called St.Thomas Aquinas at Iowa State, which really helped enhance my faith life. Then I was also the. vice president of my hall in dorm. Iowa State has made this year one of the best years of my life, and I'm looking forward to more amazing experiences and opportunities in the next three years!
