I liked how easy it was to get to know and work with individual professors in the Department of Biology. I will have these connections for the rest of my life! The only thing I would like to see change is for lectures to be offered at more and varied times. Labs and recitations are offered many different times throughout the week (and thus were easy to fit into the schedule), but many lectures (including those that are required for graduation) were only offered at one specific time of the week. This made it difficult sometimes to fit in classes I wanted to take because they conflicted with other things in my schedule.
IUPUI is a very specific school, it has it medical fields, engineering, and Kelly school of business really dominate the undergraduate. However most of the university is graduate students from IUPUI and surrounding schools. I think IUPUI is a great option especially for those pursing graduate degree programs, however when it comes to regular bachelors degrees you would be in a small percentage of students at IUPUI, because a majority are either graduate students or on the pathway to become so. If you don’t mind that it’s a great place to get an education, all my professors have been great!
I have enjoyed going to school there. I am a psychology major, and all of the students I have met are very nice, as well as the faculty and staff. The only complaint I have is the websites can sometimes be tricky to get to, or information is no longer correct on a website. Also, the safety on campus could be better. I like that there is an option to be walked to your car, as well as buttons to hit to call an officer. Some do not work, and I think they could stand to add cameras in more dangerous areas (stairwells, garages, etc.). Aside from that, I have had a great experience so far. Lots of diversity, opportunities for scholarships, and plenty of clubs to join!
