Indiana University Northwest had a plethora of educational opportunities associated with diversity and assistance while taking their classes. However, it was relatively lacking when assisting with job placement after receiving one's degree. Furthermore, while there were plenty of educational opportunities when it comes to classes offered, there was a wide variance and instability when it came to the passion of different professors that causes one to feel as if one's educational journey is not truly valued throughout the classes. Some professors do a phenomenal job and are very passionate, but a majority of the professors dedicated to my major of Psychology did not focus on instructing students on the modern theories or philosophies of the field, instead focusing more on why former theories were wrong or unethical with no replacement theories indicating growth of the field. This teaching style caused me to consider switching majors several times due to no longer trusting the field.
Indiana University Northwest is a great place to pursue higher education. As a college student, I have had a wonderful experience here. The class sizes are small, which allows for more personalized attention from professors. This has helped me establish a better understanding of concepts and succeed in my courses. The university is also affordable, with financial aid and scholarship options available for eligible students.
The campus is diverse, and students come from different backgrounds, which has been an enriching experience. The university has a vibrant student life, with numerous clubs and organizations that cater to different interests. This has provided me with opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and build my social network.
The only downside to IUN is its location in Gary, which carries a reputation for high crime rates. However, the university has taken measures to ensure the safety of its students, and I have never felt unsafe on campus.

My older sister just graduated from IU Northwest and loved her time there! I really appreciate how close the campus is to my home so I don’t need to worry about moving away from home. Coming from a low-income family means that I need to balance my school life with my home life! Having a campus in close proximity to my home makes it easier to manage work, school, and family at the same time! The campus is wonderful and the staff is dedicated to guiding each and every student on the right path. After visiting the campus a few times it’s clear to me that IU Northwest is my #1 pick!
