Illinois State University is one of the best places to grow not only as a student but as a person as a whole! I expanded my cultural horizons, met people from all walks of life, and really submersed myself into my academics and future! It has the perfect balance of providing both academic-focus and extracurricular activities for every students. There are plenty of ways to get involved on campus ranging from joining a campus club or getting involved in Greek life, which I did. The Greek system gave me the tools that I needed to move forward in my future career path. It also gave me life long friendships that will always remain special to me. The campus is just big enough to give you that "away" feel , but has that tight-knit small school feeling. The professors go out of their way to accommodate the needs of their students whether it is office hours, timely email responses or an after lecture discussion, they are here to make the academic experience a positive one.
ISU is an awesome school. The perfect size, beautiful campus, engaged faculty, and motivated students. ISU, U of I-Urbana, and UIC are the only growing state universities in Illinois and continually rated the top 3 in academics. All are top notch universities. What makes ISU different has a more “private school” feel to the campus and not as corporate. I went to all 3 schools and for undergrad, ISU provides the best undergraduate education (more actual faculty teaching classes instead of student assistants). For our children, we highly recommend ISU, UI-Urbana, or UIC. Simply the best 3 schools by far!
Overall, my first semester at Illinois State University was very interesting due to the pandemic and adjusting to college life. However, meeting new people at Illinois State University made my college experience more at ease and enjoyable. I like how the school has many resources to help students with their academic and financial troubles. People at Illinois State University are eager to pursue their goals which helped me pushed throughout my first semester in college. Also, I had joined a workout group and met a nice instructor and people the atmosphere energetic and exciting . However, when I first came into the University it was a little hectic because I was new and didn’t know anything about college. But I’ve had friends who are already attend the University to help me with my little inconveniences. However, I would like to see more of is diversity, so far I’ve seen a few minorities on campus. But overall, I would recommend this school!
