I started the LPN program last month and was very apprehensive about making a career change. However, from the first day I requested info, the communication and process has been amazing. From Admissions, Financial aid, Instructors, Dean’s office, Regional Campus President and more… I mention that because they are all in high-level positions, yet very much involved with the students. Between them, student resources, and tutors they provide so many opportunities for you to succeed. Starting the LPN program was the best decision I made. Once I graduate this program I plan to continue my education with Herzing to pursue my BSN. If you’re deciding which college to attend I would highly suggest Herzing University, just based off my personal experience so far!
I started at Herzing University - Kenosha last autumn with absolutely no issues! I felt very comfortable with the process. I took the TEAS test, passed with flying colors, and continued onto my path in their BSN/FNP Nursing Programs. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, the school maintained continued communication and respect regarding our health and the future outcome of the classes. When they eventually switched to online classes, for our protection, there was a little uncertainty. However, the faculty members were regularly avalible to assist with any needs you may have. (Even if that issue is at 11:57 pm for the exam the following afternoon!) Overall, I felt very welcomed in the environment!
For HU-Kenosha, there currently are two types of online classes that I have had experience with.
The classes that were originally lectures, labs, or clinical are mostly being offered online due to the current state of public health. Slowly, these classes are being offered in-person, depending on various factors, depending on the big guys that are over the school. The classes are zoom-based, and are similar, yet different than normal classes; lectures occur during the scheduled period, however, labs/clinics and are done via online platforms at your professor's discretion. Exams require both.
The other type of online course that I completed involved completely online platforms. This course required me to read the material and take exams based on this reading.
The latter type of class is generally shorter in the overall semester time, rather than the zoom-based lecture classes.
