Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion Reviews
It's difficult. Intensive interviews, an audition, lots of essays, a test in modern Hebrew and music theory (for cantors), and a psychological evaluation.
I love it. I am learning so much every day and I am able to directly apply it in my school-arranged internship. The faculty is wonderful. It is a lot (LOT LOT LOT) of work, but it's worth every bit of it.
I've never felt threatened in any way while at HUC.
Housing in NYC is just awful. It's extremely expensive and you get very little for your money.
It's a pretty specialized school (seminary of the Reform Movement), and so I don't think this applies as it would with other schools.
