My experience at Hawkeye Community college is well. The advisors are very helpful and are always free to work with you in person via zoom. Although some professors are not helpful, there are a handful that will support you and who are very understanding when needing extensions and have office hours to get extra help. The campus is put together well, with new construction coming as well. They do offer free recreational use while attending the college.
I have been attending Hawkeye community college for a year and a half now. I really enjoy the professors that I have had, and have a great relationship with them. This is most likely because of the smaller class sizes, which I view as a huge benefit. The class sizes not only allow me to have a great relationship with the professors but also have a great relationship between my peers. Overall, I have had nothing but a positive experience at Hawkeye community college.
I believe some of there criteria needs to change like if your a point of way from passing the class you must take the class over. I believe it’s set up to make African Americans fail. Some of the teachers want to see you fail no matter how much you study and ask them question. Some but not all make you feel small, dumb and afraid to ask questions. Need to vet their teachers better. Some teachers are there just for a paycheck and they say that to class as well.
