Honestly, as far as community colleges go, Hartnell's fine. I've had good experiences here but I've also had bad. Some of the counselors make it feel like they want you to not be able to transfer (suggesting classes that you don't even need...) While others are super helpful. But most of all, be careful if you drive to campus. Parking fills up fast!
Hartnell college has been a great experience for me. Many great courses taught by the best faculty. I have taken many classes here and i learned quite a lot. The staff is always very helpful, and the student support services been great. I have met many outgoing students. Overall, a great school!
I just recently finished a spring semester at Hartnell. I had taken classes at Monterey Peninsula College during high school and loved the little bit of a college experience I got there. I decided to attend Hartnell after high school in order to get a fresh, new environment for my first, real college experience. It was going alright at first, I was a little disappointed with the registration process and the constantly changing payment deadlines. I was dropped from my classes because I had been told that my deadline was two months later than what was supposedly the actual deadline. I received a strange looking email the day before this new deadline and wasn’t able to pay it on time, so I was dropped from my classes. After the same thing happened again recently when trying to register for my fall classes early, I decided to go back to MPC in the fall instead of dealing with Hartnell’s disorganized administration. The counselors at Hartnell are also not up to standard, in my opinion.
