Grayson College is a great starter for new college students. The campus is beautiful, small, and easily navigated. The professors were caring, supportive, and involved to help students succeed. There is a great library with a writing center to help students improve their writing skills and essays for any course. The bookstore is small, but stocked with everything a student would need. Admissions, financial aid, and the career coaches knew their roles and responsibilities which made them able to help students without confusion and stress. Also want to note that there is a Veteran's lounge for service members and their dependents. It is a small, but welcoming area that allows students to print, use computers, and study. To point out the missing star, the cafeteria and student life were not highly frequented by myself. Therefore to approve a 5-star rating without proper opinions on those services is not helpful. In addition, there should be more inclusion and diversity on campus.
There is a wide gulf between Grayson instructors that know what they are doing running their online classes and those that don't. Those that know how to run online classes won't even keep their Canvas class/classwork scheduler updated making it easy for the average student to miss assignments and not be ready for classes if they do not depend on the class ... and often times they do not even update those! Grayson has several instructors that are absolutely incompetent when it comes to online classes. I had an instructor that did not return messages in Canvas about the class all term. I had another instructor that insisted on using THREE separate textbooks for her class and made us take quizzes online based on one book we did not even have access to while the exams came from the others. The language and definitions were completely different between the online quizzes and the exams. I got totally lost. Also good luck getting any of this resolved with the instructor without simply dropping
Grayson College is amazing! The dorms are very nice, the food is good, and the teachers are great. The student life is great, too. There are many things to do around campus. You could join a club, go to an athletics game, or just hang out with your friends in your dorm!
