Glen Oaks Community College Reviews
Rating 4.04 out of 5 92 reviews
I attended Glen Oaks while I was still in high school and was even able to graduate with my associates before I graduated high school. In terms of academics Glen Oaks is a pretty standard community college but the staff is what made the experience so enjoyable. During my last year at GOCC I had hip surgery that put me on crutches for 6 weeks. I was very worried about being able to get to my class since it was on the opposite corner of campus then the parking lot but after talking with a professor they were able to get me a pass to be able to park at the entrance right next to my class. The only problem was that since it was the maintenance entrance there weren't any handicap doors. A few of the people who worked in the maintenance office saw me struggling one day and walked out to help me with the doors, after that there was almost always someone there to help me. Glen Oaks treats their students like family and I would without a doubt tell someone to go there for college.
Glen Oaks is a very student focused college, I know that most colleges say that they are but here they genuinely care about the success of all of their students. The advisors are some of the best I have ever met, they go out of their way to ensure that you are doing well and provide you with the necessary tools you may need to help you be even more successful. The only thing I would like to see change is better organization for some courses, it's not too terrible but it could be better.
Glen Oaks Community College is a wonderful school. The classes are small, which provides a more intimate teaching space. Most of the professors are kind and work well, the college is also a cheaper option compared to a bigger, four year college. If you're looking to save money, for a smaller college, and a great learning experience then this college is for you!
