I have completed my first semester at Germanna Community College (completely online) and I am very grateful to have chosen this school. All of my professors were polite, and ready to help us students (within reasonable time). Their expectations and directions were very clear and the deadline to complete our assignments were greatly synced with the amount of time needed to finish said assignments. The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is a great tool and I am glad it was there as I needed help for an ITE class and I recieved amazing assistance. I also received great assistance when enrolling and before I officially attended GCC, everyone I came across was extremely helpful. They also hold informative workshops ranging from Google Suite to Work Studies. There are also opportunities to attend events on campus (depending on which one). Overall, my experience has been 10/10.
I really enjoy taking all of my classes online at Germanna! It allows me to work part-time and complete my school work whenever I'm off. Online work also gives me the freedom to complete my school work wherever I want. In addition, attending Germanna is a great option for people who want to save money. I only had to buy 4 textbooks in my 2 years at Germanna. However, there are some professors who give poor instructions but a majority of them are great. There is also not a huge selection of courses with some exceptions. There is not a whole lot of events going on but that is due to Covid-19.
Germanna has made online learning a smooth transition and very easy to get used to. The professors respond quickly to questions and are very understanding. I thought that college during a pandemic would be stressful but the professors have made it fun and exciting. If I needed any explanation or had any in-depth questions I could get on a Zoom meeting with them and they would help me. So far I have been able to get all A's in my classes so they are doing something right! The professors go into a lot of explanation with concepts to make sure everyone understands, and going at my own pace has been beneficial to me.
