My experience at Georgia Southern University was interesting! I began my college journey at Armstrong State University but very soon after, it merged with GSU, making me a proud Eagle. With the merger, I was introduced to more opportunities, better learning experiences and a bigger collegiate community. Initially, I was apprehensive about the small details surrounding the merger like, student-teacher ratios and athletics. However, becoming an Eagle turned out to be one of my greatest accomplishments and I'm excited to return for my master's program.
I loved attending Georgia Southern! From the smaller class sizes, to having everything on campus or in down town Statesboro, it became my home away from the big city. I had excellent professors, made life long connections, and had a job lined up 6 months before graduation thanks to campus-employer partnerships. My professors were available for chats pre and post graduation, and have gone on the provide excellent advice during life transitions and career changes. A word of caution: Tybee Island, which is only an hour away from campus, has awful parking during vacation season, so stay on campus and visit the pool at GSU's RAC instead.
I have loved my time at Georgia Southern University! The campus is so beautiful, no matter where I am on campus I am surrounded by gorgeous trees and animals. It creates such a comfortable atmosphere. Although I wish they had a better way to connect the campus to the town of statesboro. They seem so separate and I wish the college students could interact with the locals. As a local myself I have always felt a disconnect and now that I am a student I feel it more than ever. I hope one day this gap can be bridged.
