Georgia College and State University is a family legacy. My great aunt, my great grandparents, my uncle, and my parents all attended GCSU and that is what makes it so special. The community surrounding Milledgeville is completely immersed in its rich culture. From Central State Hospital, the antebellum-era mental asylum thats only a 10 minute drive from campus, to the beautifully up kept historical downtown, the past is beautifully intertwined with the present in a way that respects and displays the values of the community and the college. Its multitudes of nicknames such as Milly (the town), MillyVegas (the strip of downtown bars frequented by students), and the Local Yokals (Milledgeville natives) speaks to the uniquely authentic pride from students that attend Georgia College and State University and carries such pride throughout their lives. This historic pride gets passed down for generations, leading to more students who appreciate the past and use it to create a better future.
Georgia College & State University offers various programs to attract students of all interests. Here, staff and faculty work hard to encourage students to think critically and lead independently as they complete their liberal arts education! The small class sizes that are offered here are perfect because it allows students to be comfortable with learning as well as establish connections with their professors.
I really like Georgia College so far, I study science and I really enjoy the personal relationships I got to make with professors and other staff. I like the overall size of the school it's not too crowded which I enjoy. I love the campus it is very beautiful, I love front campus and I love that all the buildings are brick. Everyone is super friendly and obviously depending on what major you are in most of the professors are really friendly and willing to help you in whatever you need. There are also a lot of clubs, greek life, extracurriculars to get into on campus which I think helps with the student life there!
