The teachers really encourage learning! They help excellently and make you want to come to class. They treat you like adults and that you mean something more, especially it being a community college. All the students here are so welcoming and friendly, and the friends you will make in your classes or programs will become lifelong friends. We all help each other out with studying for test or during classwork in groups working as teammates. Being in the Nutrition and Dietetics Program at Gateway Community College has brought so many opportunities for me for my further career as a student as well as a future Registered Dietitian. I highly recommend any high school senior to go into a community college and get a degree out of it to be one step above 4-year students, and have more knowledge and skill of the field you want to go into for your future career.
Overall, my experience here was okay. I had some professors that weren't very nice but the rest were great. I was in the graphic design program which had one class available for most of the curriculum. There is only one photography II, web design, graphic design II class, so make sure you register for them as soon as possible. One semester the web design teacher had to cancel a class which sucked because it was the only web design class available. If one student needed that class for their last semester, they'd need to wait until the next semester.
When it comes to working there, student workers make minimum wage and depending on the department you're in, will determine the amount of hours you work a week. I personally did not like working at Gateway, student workers are not respected at all and are told do to things that have nothing to do with their positions like going to get their boss' lunch or other pointless errands the employees are too lazy to do themselves.

First time I stepped in Gateway I felt like a new path is coming, terrifying way but in a good way as well. A new journey to your life, never knowing what to expect or at least you have am idea what to expect. There may be some difficult times where we stress a lot, but everything takes time and how we need to manage it. My major is computer science and so far I'm developing new skills which help me realize into the career I wanted. Although, I had some trouble with the assignment and the professors came through to help which I really appreciated it and their hard work. There's always people who can help you whether they notice your grade or struggling assignments or you just ask them. There's always gonna be a challenge but if were willing to take that challenge we may succeed our goals.
