I like that Francis Marion is a small comfortable college. My classes are easy to find with a short walking distance. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes! The scenery is beautiful. From the trees, the squirrels, the ponds and the view overall is just amazing and makes you feel at home. Sometimes I like to just walk around campus in mid-afternoon just to relax and view the beautiful scenery. The workload can be a little tough but with handwork and studying, you can make it! The library is huge! There are many private study rooms on the second floor as well as many tables on both the first and second floors. I like that the library stays open late so we can get some last minute studying in. The professors are very helpful, make sure to visit on their office hours for extra help. Francis Marion have many dining options. The food is pretty good. There is a workout gym; it is small and comfortable and is open 6 days a week. You can get a good workout after studying.
My name is Stephen Andrew Griggs, and I graduated in 2021, from Francis Marion University with a B.S. in History with a Secondary Education Certificate/Endorsement. I thoroughly enjoyed my education experience at FMU. The atmosphere is terrific, and the professors are top tier. In my opinion the Education and the History Department are the best in South Carolina and the United States. I am a second-year Social Studies teacher at South Florence Highschool, and I felt confident in my first year of teaching. I directly attribute my successes in the classroom to my tenure at Francis Marion University.
Francis Marion is everything I'd dreamt it would be. Ever since I started attending this college, my passion for music grew and flourished. The professors build lifelong connections with their students. It is very diverse and there is no discrimination. I wouldn't want anything to be changed about it, plus it's one of the cheapest colleges when it comes to tuition. I recommend Francis Marion to everyone. Not to mention that they are considering freezing tuition. The campus, in general, is beautiful and the buildings are in comfortable walking distance. Yes, the classes are challenging, but the effort is rewarding.
