Books seem a bit out-dated for my preference, along with the professor's preferences. Professors each have expensive knowledge. Some are easier to understand than others. It is a structured environment without being too rigid. Overall, I've enjoyed my experience. I have completed two semesters, thus far.
Overall, the staff and administration are great. The program is expensive and there is no book sell-back program. Food options on campus, leave something to be desired. Books cost different for different students.. the same books. Pretty frustrating.
My field is dental hygiene. I have been involved in the dental field as an assistant for some years prior to being accepted into the dental hygiene program. I had some knowledge going into the program and am happy to say, my knowledge has increased tremendously! I love the small class sizes and the ability to spend quality time learning together and not just being a number amongst a sea of students. I've developed wonderful professional relationships with my professors and admire their passion for the field in which they have earned a degree in, dental hygiene. The clinic in which we practice in and treat patients is advanced and up to date with the ever change technology surrounding the dental field. We have been exposed to the latest and greatest ways to treat our patients including the use of digital X-rays, intraoral cameras and lasers. We're preparing for real life practice situations by assisting hygienists at the local VA hospital. I appreciate the ability my program has given me to be able to work along with being a student in a tough field. They understand we still have to survive and do their best to ease our homework load by helping us achieve our academic goals in the classroom. I love my program and am so grateful I chose Fortis College of Salt Lake City to advance my education in the dental field.
