My experience with Florida Southwestern State College has been good! I have learned new things and have had very informed professors about the subjects they teach. The campus is beautiful and has many opportunities and accommodations. The faculty and staff are very welcoming and inclusive. Not only this, they are very inclusive and offer Duel Enrollment for High School students which offers many opportunities and preparations for these students to experience the college lifestyle. The Collier Campus needs to improve its overall look and presentability as it is very outdated.
My experience at FSW had lots of pros and cons. Some of the things that I liked about FSW was that most of my teachers would allow to me to work ahead on almost all of my assignments which was really nice, especially if I had upcoming trips I could get everything done before leaving! The teachers would also get back to me fairly quickly if I emailed them questions about any of my assignments. So overall the pros about going to FSW would probably be the teachers themselves. The cons of going there I would say actually outweigh the pros. Multiple times while I would be registering or submitting any sort of paperwork, it would almost always get lost and I would have to redo everything two to three times. My advisors also were not vey helpful at all and would most of the time not even give me the right answers to what I would be asking. The whole process of even trying to become a student at FSW was very difficult. I would constantly call or email and no-one would pick up or write back.
I have been a dual enrollment student for three years. Best decision ever! I have gotten ahead in high school with my college credits. As a senior, I am only taking one class at my high school. Although college life gets hard at times and may be challenging, you must continue. In my first year of dual enrollment, I was struggling and thought about dropping out of college, but later in the year, I disciplined myself more and felt more confident.
