The classes are decent, I'm an Ag major. However, I would say if I had the money I would probably go elsewhere. I've had some problems with getting into classes that are required for my course. Either there isn't enough students or they can't find a professor to take it on. This has pushed back my graduation date even further. In all honestly the only reason I'm staying on this spring semester is because they are the closest school to me (I commute) and I've already taken out loans. I may transfer out of state once I do my internship this summer and finish elsewhere. I like some of my professors but all in all I'm kind of over Ellsworth. I do have to say they are better than Hawkeye Community College, so at least there's a positive.

I was in Equine Science. While things like required chore classes frequently caused me to miss meals, and some of the instructors took a 'look, you need to learn this, and you're old enough to learn it yourself without me hand holding you' view (even though you're there for their guidance), I definitely learned a lot here. If you're able to know what you want to learn and willing to make them take the time out for you, I have no doubt they will help you. One thing though, they're very Western focused. All training courses are Western. If you're looking for an English experience, you may want to look elsewhere. There is no barns nearby, strangely enough, to provide supplementary riding time.
The library is about the size of a high school library, and didn't contain many books on topics I was interested in. (Foreign language, French & Japanese, robotics, etc.) The staff was quite friendly.

Food service is not good, and if you're not available for the very brief hours they're open due to classes, guess you're going hungry.

Campus aesthetic is okay. It's very small, but they do keep it green with grass and trees. Buildings look alright - not stately, but not at all rundown.

Athletes are really all that matters here. I wasn't one, but I'd expect with the extreme favoritism shown towards them in everything from food service, to disciplinary, to dorm policy, their atheletic center is top funded.
