I think both the teachers and the curriculum were engaging and easy to understand. Everyone was always willing to help out and the teachers were very understanding of your circumstances. I liked how easy it was to complete my assignments and the interface was really well done. I also appreciated the assistance of all of the counselors I worked with! The one thing I did not like was the removal of the free college benefit program, that program was the only reason I was able to afford to go to school. Now, I'm struggling to finish my degree and reach my career goals.
I started attending classes late 2021 via my workplace benefits (that are now ending unfortunately). Having not had the best experiences with school previously, I was very apprehensive at first and being an older student (30s) wasn't sure of what to expect. Enrollment process was very simple and streamlined, same for the FAFSA process. I chose the accelerated terms since I do well with time management/fast paced environments. I have found all of my professors thus far to be extremely knowledgeable, helpful and passionate about their subjects of study. This helped foster my creativity and further motivate me to excel within my courses, something I had not experienced as a teen. I am now in my 2nd year of study, have a 4.0 and have made President's List. I owe that to the amazing faculty who has guided me in my studies and continuously motivated me to improve my work and try new approaches to my education. I'm very excited about my future at EGCC and onward.
Eastern Gateway Community College has a strong Education degree program. The only issue that I ran into was that I did not receive much guidance when I was first accepted. I did not receive my on-boarding instructions until my third semester. I would like to think that I was an exception and not a rule. However, once I was comfortable with the format of classes, I was able to manage my program with little intervention, yet if I needed help, it was only on phone call away or a could schedule a virtual meeting with an advisor. The course work has been challenging and interesting and I have learned a lot in relation to my major. I highly recommend Eastern Gateway Community College Online Program.
