I've loved my experience at EAC! The classes are small and the teachers are kind, so you feel like you're getting a very personalized experience. I'm a language major there, and I've always felt welcomed by the rest of the language department. The professors are understanding and excellent at keeping a manageable workload. Furthermore, their tutoring center is one of the best I've seen. There's free tutoring available in almost every subject, and the tutors are available whenever it's most convenient for students. I would absolutely recommend EAC for anyone looking for a small town community college and I would attend again if I could.
EAC is a small town community College. EAC has always strived for growth in its curriculum. It offers multiple classes in a variety of areas, and its nursing program is one of the best in the state. It also offers mechanics, welding, biology, environmental sciences, athletic teams, and many others! EAC closely partners with the major university, ASU. EAC offers on campus housing and has a well loved Cafe. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because it's a small religious town, so it doesn't have much diversity, which may discourage people from the LGBTQ+, POC, and others from attending due to fear of discrimination.
Eastern Arizona College is a community-driven school that attracts small-town young adults from all over Arizona. In my two years there, I met individuals from all over the state. Their Nursing program is currently #1 in the state and their other programs are often close behind.
Pros:
- Family-like community. Lots of opportunities to meet very nice people.
- Big on the arts; 5 different choirs and 2 theatrical pieces a year.
- Incredibly cheap. Working for the college, often you can get a tuition option that pays for tuition
- Caring and focused staff. Smaller class sizes mean more one-on-one interactions with the professors. Something you would never find at a larger-scale university.
Cons:
- A smaller town. The total population of the surrounding area is about 15,000. Not a lot of options when it comes to shopping, food, etc.
- Fewer programs/Majors.
- Quality/intensity of the education might not compare to larger scale university.
- Not very diverse ethnicity-wise.
