East Los Angeles College is located in Monterey Park, Ca. Monterey Park is like the suburbs of California. ELAC is the most prominent Junior Colleges in the united states holding over 30,000 students. The campus is so beautiful, and there are always events happening, so it gives students a chance to branch out and try new things.
There are a total of three plazas around the school that has food and other necessities. If you are an in-state student, your tuition most likely will be covered by your FAFSA, grants, and any other scholarships. However, out-of-state students, it is expensive! There are no dorms. There are many resources around the campus to help you if you do struggle academically. If you are a student-athlete looking into this school, you are in good hands. The counselors are extremely helpful.
Universities like UCLA, Cal State schools are always on campus to share their information for a student that wants to transfer to a 4-year institute.

Just surfing the internet to recommend a community college for a friend working at Panera's in Glendale, Ca. I came across ELAC and recalled my own experiences when I attended there several to many years ago. I can only image how much more the college has improved for students today. After I finished the 2 yr program I went on to further my studies at UCLA, it was a difficult transition but manageable & I graduated. I think had it not been for the professors, counselors & administrators, my eyes would not have been opened wide enough to see the future before me. ELAC was a good place to start!
The campus is newly remodeled with brand new state of the art buildings. The professors are awesome and very encouraging. There sheriff's department on campus it's very safe! And it's right off the freeway, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shops.
