Doane University Reviews
Rating 3.82 out of 5 357 reviews
I have loved every second of my time at Doane. I came from out of state purely based on the opportunity to play on the women's soccer team. I was honestly preparing for the worst but was pleasantly surprised when I got to Doane. The campus community is incredibly immersive and inclusive. It feels great to have everyone on campus know you and support you! There are many organizations to get involved with on campus including greek life, which means there really is a place for every kind of student. Academics are great, small class sizes and personable professors really set you up for success. Athletics can be hit or miss depending on the sport, I have really enjoyed the soccer program but have heard negative things about the softball and volleyball teams. The food could be better and there could be more communication between the administration and students. There is also a really high turnover wait for faculty which can be concerning. On another note, campus is BEAUTIFUL!
I am originally from a small town in California so moving halfway across the country at only 17 years old knowing I would be financially responsible for myself and having nobody I know; starting with a clean slate was a scary thought. Contemplating the pros and cons that could come with this huge leap I eventually decided that it was time to do something for myself. I got recruited to Doane to join their first ever women's wrestling team, which was so exciting for me to be making even more history as I was the first and only girl on the wrestling team in my small town. Doane has a beautiful campus, and they are constantly working to make it better. They have countless resources for students. If you are ever struggling in your classes, you have so many resources to turn to. Thats what I really love. Doane is also small, so everyone knows everyone and were all close knit. The women's wrestling team this year is going to be great. We're making history!
Since I am only a freshman at Doane I can't say much about the experience I've had but the memories I've already made just being there for only a few months have already impacted my life and connected me to so many amazing people that I would've never met if I didn't step outside my comfort zone. One of the first things that caught my eye when I was searching for colleges to apply to and when I stumbled onto Doane is their beautiful campus. Doane has the most mesmerizing campus in Nebraska, some might say that is just an opinion but I believe that is a fact. Another thing I love about Doane is all the friendly people, my professors are all super nice and genuinely care about my personal life and how I'm doing not only in but outside of school too. Something I would really love to see change though is the amount of parking, I really do struggle to find a spot to park that is near my classroom but it helps me get my steps in for the day so win-win.
