Tunxis is truly full of amazing staff! The professors are attentive, caring, and always looking to help boost students up. They are also very understanding when it comes to needing extra help or extra resources. The advisors are very helpful and provide resources that save students money and time. The school itself is clean and well maintained with an abundance of clubs and organizations that provide resources for mental health, such as the human services club. The students are welcoming and it was easy to make friends and breach out of my social comfort zone. The school has many parking spots available, and two main entrances that make it easier so you don't have to walk 15 minutes to your class if you're running late. The classes are well-paced so that they do not become overwhelming, even as a full-time student I still have plenty of free time and time to work a part-time job as well. There are many events with free food or gift bags that encourage students to come to campus.
Most of my experiences with Tunxis have been positive. I did have one professor who seemed unfamiliar and not equipped with working with international students - many of the projects included requirements such as being a native english speaker, and utilizing links and information in a personal matter that was only US based when I have only lived here for school since December. Many links that were provided were also dead links, and had to be searched for in order for me to find the correct information. When I reached out to this professor regarding issues such as this as well as my teammates not working with me, I was told that I'd have to make do and solve them myself.
Tunxis has a great campus. Its very safe and they take pride in it. The professors are of all ages and backgrounds, which makes for a diverse community. The bookstore also has pretty much everything you need or they direct you where you can get items. I have taken both online an on campus classes. I love that they have a flexible schedule with evening classes for a student like me who is going part time. Any questions were always answered promptly from the advisor that I have been assigned to. They offer meetings via WebEx if you cant make it in and that is very convenient. Their online system is also very user friendly. Tunxis is a wonderful community college if you need to get credits for your general studies and at a fraction of the cost that other colleges charge. And another thing worth mentioning is the community outreach they do with food baskets, the student food pantry and they have clothes as well. I love the Tunxis community and am proud to be apart of it. Great school!!
