Columbus State has grown quite a bit over my lifetime. I remember when it started as "Columbus Technical Institute" and it has since grown to become a well respected two year college. I attended in the early 90's, and the school was still growing. The class sizes were small, the instructors brought real world experiences into the classrooms, and I felt that the entire institution was really invested in my success. Whether you are looking to complete a complete Associate's degree program, or planning on transferring to a four year college, CSCC will provide you with a solid foundation for your academic or career ambitions. I highly recommend it!

Overall, Columbus State is fantastic! Some of the facilities could use updating, and some of the advisors are lacking a little, but the professors I have had are absolutely fantastic, and they really care about preparing their students.
The courses are absolutely college-level - there is nothing lacking about them, which many say is the case with community colleges. Having attended both a university and another community college, I can confidently say that the classes and instruction at CSCC are on-par with large universities at a fraction of the cost.
So far my experience with Columbus State Community College has been average. They have plenty of resources easily available to each student, although the experience may be hit or miss. I have talked to a guidance counselor that offered minimal assistance, but I have also talked to a counselor that took her time and answered all of my questions, and more, to set me up for success. I have had wonderful professors that are willing to spend extra time with students and answer questions happily and promptly, but I have also encountered professors with bad attitudes that very clearly do not care about the class they are teaching. A very clear path is paved for students planning on transferring to a university, even hosting counselors from partnering transfer schools. This makes it very easy to get the information you need for the future. Overall, I believe that Columbus State has the potential to be an amazing school if not for small consistency issues.
