What I like about Columbia College is its "small town" vibe in a big city. Everyone on campus is involved with at least one organization and thoroughly enjoys the climate and culture of campus. Professors, administrators, and staff care about the students and try to get to know them and create a connection. There are many resources for students to use, including first-year mentors, free tutoring, career services, and mental and physical health services. While each student may have their qualms with the school, multiple clubs, departments, and people are willing to hear ideas for changes and help resolve any student's issues.
Overall the experience online is fine the call cente is response and there for students. The advisers and teachers for the most part are nice and somewhat easy to interact with. However, there are some points with their system can use more clarity. Sometimes their billing system can get confusing without constantly calling the call center or financial Aid center for help. Likewise, when looking up your degree plan, and what classes you need to take by yourself, be confusing without reaching out to your adviser. On the other hand for my experience the advisers usually respond to your inquiries promptly.
I am going to columbia college as a transfer student. I have only visited the campus once during my senior year of high school for the A+ program and a second time for my sister's graduation.
My experience there was excellent; the college was beautiful and calm, unlike my previous community college and high school. I liked Columbia College's 1800's architecture with a touch of 21st-century architecture in some places.
I can't make too much of a judgment about what I would change about the college, to be honest. But, from my experience, I would probably change the dorms of Columbia College. They were honestly pretty nasty and looked like they were from the wrong side of town instead of a college.
