Coker University Reviews
Rating 3.47 out of 5 288 reviews
Coker provided me the platform to succeed. While athletics are not amazing, the Professors and other students make the experience worthwhile. Out of all the college options—Coker should be at the top. The assistance you will get from the administration and Professors cannot be matched, and the knowledge you gain will propel you into a meaningful career post-grad.
Professors are very invested in students and make themselves available to students just as much as in person classes. The professors are genuine, and the student population’s diversity provided a rich and immersive learning environment.
All my classes were online and if there were any problems my advisor would solve them quickly. Even though you rarely go to campus they treat you like a normal student!
I loved the community and how involved they are with their students online and on-campus! Overall, I recommend this university a lot. Especially if you cannot handle the normal setting of classes. Online is perfect!
I have taken one online class, and the class was a communication and skills class, which is required for graduation.
Absolutely horrible people running this school. Just hope you never have an issue at this school because administration has a tendency to simply ignore calls and emails for things they do not want to respond to. This is combined with an aggressive denial of any wrongdoing on their end no matter how obvious or demonstrable. I would never under any circumstances recommend this school. There are schools equal or superior in every conceivable relevant category for picking schools at much lower costs.
There were literally no guidelines for online education put out by the school during the corona pandemic which resulted in some classes at the school never receiving instruction once classes were moved online.
Personally I am better in the classes room when it comes to learning but the professors have been very good at explaining everything and helping us through the process.
Great school. Everyone is here to help you and if you have any questions you can ask anyone and they will do everything they can in order to answer that question.
The math professor was great...she was able to do virtual math assistance as well as teaching the class.
If you see this review please do not go here regardless of any positive messages you see I don’t even have NEARLY enough space to explain everything that happened but AVOID this school , the academics, social life, food, dorms and professors and even students are horrible take your money elsewhere. This school is 100% bad and was horrible enough to make a HUGE negative impact on my mental health because of how negative everything from this school was. There are other schools, please don’t come here ...especially for the dance program there are so many schools that are 10x better than the piece of crap dance program they have.
Very much an athletic's based school. Majority of the student population came there for the sports. That isn't to say Coker lacks an Art and Music community though. It is a bit expensive and lacking in some aspects, such as the surrounding area being in the middle of nowhere. However, it is a very intimate community where you know everyone, even if some are only friends of friends. This is perfect for kids who want a small school.
This place is so awful. The dorms are moldy, the food does not taste good. The only good things are the professors and the financial aid. If you want to go here, I'd recommend commuting if possible. Staying on campus is a nightmare.
Coker creates a family environment. This small school allows students to learn and thrive. I am proud to have attended such a tremendous University.
Coker University is a great school. There is so much positivity in Hartsville. The professors are awesome. Here at Coker you get to create relationships with all your professors. I love Coker University because it allows for me not to feel like I'm just a number it allows for me to be myself and create my own path. Coker has been around for a long time . The only reason why I didn't give it a five star rating is because, like every other older school it could use some renovations. Other than that it is great and did I forget to mention my dorm room is huge.
I loved my freshman year!! Hartsville is perfect if you want to go to a school with a small-town feel, but not sacrifice the aesthetics around you or the quality of your education. The professors care about you as a person and know you by name.
Coker is a nice small school. I do enjoy that. I think that the school should get the campus more involved with activities, but it's hard to do when a majority of the students play a sport.
