Coastal Carolina University Reviews
After having met with a few of the professors, and socialized or studied with the students, I have come to love the University more so than I could have imagined! Unlike other campuses I have visited, Coastal seems to be more comfortable not only as a home, but as a learning environment. The professors are always available for questions, and assistance needed in the subject the are teaching. The dean of student affairs is a pretty great guy too, he helps with a lot around campus. It's an amazing and truly a unique campus!
Most professors are very helpful and genuinely want students to succeed. In my experience, going to office hours if you are struggling, despite doing your absolute best, improves your chances of succeeding in the course because most, if not all, professors are willing to put in the time and effort to help their students improve as long as it is evident that their students are also putting in adequate time and effort into the class. There is a wide variety of classes offered, especially a variety of the GenEds needed to graduate. Class sizes are great, even as a freshmen: my largest class only had about 35 students in it. Overall, CCU is a great university!
The campus is beautiful - very well maintained, clean, and they firmly believe in "out with the old, in with the new" in terms of buildings. There are only a few buildings on campus that are original to the creation of the school in 1952. This is because they believe in having an exceptional space in which students can focus on learning, and have the appropriate technology to do so. I do not live in the on-campus housing so I cannot attest to that, but from what I know a lot of the buildings on that side of campus are relatively new as well. In terms of athletics, If you are looking for a school that does well in football, this is not it. However, if you are into baseball, we got you. Most recently we were the Sun Belt Conference Champions in 2016 and 2017, and have a long track record of excelling in baseball.
