If you are a parent, teacher, or friend I would recommend advising that no one attends this college.
After multiple emails with staff, not one person is willing to help me with unforeseen consequences. They’ll help you if you’re pregnant but not if your family member is ill (even if you have two courses left). Even if you no longer have a way of commuting to the college because of an unreliable vehicle they still will not help you. Best of all, if you or your partner is a 100% disabled veteran that won’t make a difference (even though they claim they support the military). The best of all, even if your own doctor speaks on your behalf they still do not care.
I am pretty sure all they care about is money. And most of the faculty spends it without the right to.

Teachers are very involved in their work, very kind to students. I had a great overall experience with this school.
I like a lot of things about San Marcos because it has so many opportunities to get a job in campus and they have so many resources to help you if you are struggling in a course. They are limited on online courses and what I would like to see change is having more online courses so that way I have more credits added. San Marcos is such a wonderful school from the professors being flexible to having unlimited amount of help from anyone.
First off the things I personally like about Cal State San Marcos is that the class sizes are not very large so you really get a one on one learning opportunity with your professors. And I also really like that San Marcos makes it very easy to get the classes that you need to graduate no matter what year you are in.
The things I do not like about San Marcos is its size and community involvement, San Marcos is a very small school and even though it has a decent amount of total students it does not feel like it because the majority of students are commuters. And because of its small size there is a very small amount of clubs and things to do on campus, there is very little sports and overall just does not provide the movie like college experience.
But if your only goal is to graduate within four years or potentially even earlier then San Marcos is a great option.

Great business program. The course work is preparing me for the real world and I feel that I will do great things after CSUSM. I also plan to aim for a Master's Degree from another university and they are preparing me for that.
better experience online, professors were not accomodating or approachable. Staff make it very difficult to feel welcomed on campus.
I like the campus grounds, how there are many places to sit whether in the shade or in buildings like the library. I also like the small but helpful community and how welcoming it feels to be a student in Cal state San Marcos. There are many resources and helps for the students, such as a food pantry, a building dedicated to study and tutoring, the different clubs that it has and the short walks between classes.
I fell in love with the school, more than I thought I would. So much diversity in the education and in the social aspect as well. I love how open and honest all the students are. I just started my second year and have some ways to go but I am excited more than ever to continue this college experience. I enjoy the classes and my professors. They take the time out of their day and weekends to create a space of comfortability and flexibility. I feel more rooted and connected than I ever have.
My overall experience so far at CSUSM is pretty good, all my professors are really cool and very friendly with one another. The students are also very cool in a way where we all can get along and have a long discussion and help each other out. The overall layout of the school is great because all the buildings/halls are close to one another, so you really don't need to be rushing to each class. The only downside to it tho is the stairs, those stairs be making you run out of breathe. Overall though I really like the school because of how welcoming it is and just how easy anyone can fit in. The clubs are all very cool, for example they have a game development club this is pretty awesome.
My experience at CSUSM was all online; however, the program I am in was designed in a way to aid students more than usual. I really like that given the online opportunity, this school picks all the classes you need towards your major. My favorite part of the program is that all your courses are automatically enrolled for you. Sometime I would like to see change in is possibly a chance to choose your own teachers when it comes to certain courses.
awesome school, if you wanna study you can study, if you wanna party you can party, if you wanna feel involved you can be involved, also the dorms are crazy nice compared to a lot of schools they’re essentially apartments, wish they had a football team tho, school spirit is lack luster, otherwise go cougs!
CSU San Marcos has given me a great opportunity to continue my education. I am a full-time student here and am living in the UVA dorms, and just finished my first week of classes. I moved here from LA, and the atmosphere here is very different. I came here with my guard up as not everyone is nice in LA. However, I have quickly noticed how welcoming and inviting the people at this school are, it is very different and something I am excited to experience. My classes so far have really engaged me, I am excited to see how I am challenged academically.
During my first-year attending CSUSM, it was a great experience. I got to meet and become friends with some of my peers and professors. The campus is really connected to environmental movements and it also matches with my major, Environmental Studies.
I think it is a great school and I like it very much. The only thing sometimes is having to commute there. Sometimes there is traffic and it can get really bad which is frustrating and something I don’t like especially when having to go everyday. What I would like to see change is how much effort I put and really commit more time to studying and everything and taking time to sit down and just do my work or assignments.
My experience at CSUSM has been a fun and wild ride since I started attending in 2019. All of the teachers have been great. They are very talented, they could make the materials so simple to learn and manage to be so helpful even caring for over 100 students. Life on campus, both on campus and in the dorms, was fun and while I'm living off campus right now, I could see myself moving back in the future.
Cal State San Marcos is an amazing University! They have a ton of resources and a website full of all the information you should need. The only problem with CSUSM is the response time from everyone in office. Multiple emails will need to be sent to get an email back. Better luck calling every time. Make sure to get your application, transcripts sent, and financials started months prior to when you’re planning on going to make sure you get everything done.
Though I have not been here long, the overall experience is something I will never regret. San Marcos has given me the opportunity to not only prepare myself for my future endeavors but also allowed me to grow as a person with like-minded people. There have been times when I have felt lost, academically or mentally, and the staff has been nothing but helpful. I enjoyed my time at San Marcos and I cannot wait to enter my sophomore year.
