California State University - Northridge Reviews
Attending Cal State Northridge has been an amazing experience. Coming from a low income high school and family, I had no prior knowledge on anything related to college. I entered college confused and scared. I did not know what career I wanted to pursue or how to pay for school. The faculty is incredible! They provided resources and guidance, which was very beneficial. I could not ask for a better college experience. I am now a Senior at CSUN, graduating Spring 2018 with a 3.5 GPA. I will definitely walk out of college feeling accomplished and prepared for the outside world.
A lot of people talk down about CSUN but it's actually a not a bad school. It's in the heart of Northridge and there's plenty to explore. Campus is clean, diverity is high, and people are friendly. While it may not be a UC, CSUN does offer a lot of programs specifically designed to help you graduate and succeed. I myself am a part of one of their programs designed to help you achieve a bachelors and a teaching credential within four years. There are a variety of resources to help you on your path and with so many students involved on campus its likely you'll see a friendly face ready to help. Although sometimes I do wish they had more professionals working instead of just students, that only insures that if you'd like to be involved or get a job on campus it's possible!
I am currently still enrolled in Cal State Northridge and have had an overall positive experience. This was not my first choice college but it proved to be the most affordable given my means. One of the most frustrating things about CSUN has to be the parking lots as during the first couple of weeks of the semester it can take almost 2 hours to find parking. Other than that, I don’t have too many complaints. The structures are a little outdated but the campus is always clean and is now a smoke free campus, which I think is great! It can be a little difficult to find healthier food options but on the main streets there are great restaurants. I have yet to have a professor that I absolutely love but I have two more years to go so I remain optimistic.
