I have absolutely loved my time at Cal Poly Humboldt! I am a wildlife major and the hands-on field experience we get in this program is awesome. Each class related to environmental majors offers so many opportunities for outdoor exploration and adventures such as camping, tide pooling, or exploring the Coral Sea aboard the Cal Poly research boat! If you start at this school, you will not be able to transfer without having a fear of missing out, and if you join the school as a transfer you will not be sorry.
Humboldt State University, now known as Cal Poly Humboldt, is a wonderful campus to spend your academic career. Surrounded by the beautiful Redwood Forest, your imagination and inspiration will excel. If you are an environmental advocate, outdoor explorer, and innovative person, Humboldt is a great place to call home! As a BIPOC ( I am a black woman) I would advise looking more into Humboldt County history and investigate Josiah Lawsons Murder. It is important to know HSU is built on Wiyot land, and we honor the Wiyot and Karuk Tribe.
I loved the campus and the way everyone was all involved! There is absolutely something for EVERYONE on campus! I’d love to see more job opportunities and activities open up for students year around because those who take summer classes have said there really isn’t too much going on during the summer and I think everyone should be able to get involved no matter what time of year they choose to take classes.
