I have been at BJU for 5 years now and absolutely love it! The campus is beautiful and very well-maintained for the tight operating budget, and includes a good number of athletic facilities and comfortable hangouts or study spots. The academics are typically more rigorous than not and degree requirements are reasonably diverse--both of which result in a very high-quality education that is well-rounded and diverse. For example, all bachelor degrees require a course in economics, mathematics, multiple English electives, public speaking, professional development, literature, science, etc. This liberal arts core, in addition to required concert and drama productions on campus, allows each student to have a broad exposure to many various topics and opportunities which prepare him or her to more easily connect with other people in practically any kind of career. There are also many great extracurricular opportunities to develop leadership traits, interpersonal communication skills, and organizational experience such as the community service council, student leadership council, residence hall leadership positions, academic associations, and so on. The staff that help direct these extra-curricular opportunities and the faculty that serve as teachers are among the best for which you can hope. They are typically very knowledgable in their subject areas, have a lot of life and work experience, and, most of all, genuinely care about their students and reach out to them in many cases to mentor and encourage them on to success. Because I am a Christian, I also love the spiritual emphasis of everything that is done at the university. I love God and enjoy learning more about him in my coursework, at chapel everyday, in special religious services, and in discipleship groups in the dorms. BJU does an admirable job of delivering an experience that will build Biblical faith, challenge professional and academic potential, and direct students to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
