Bethel, by biblical definition, means “house of God”. This is a fact I didn’t know until 1 year+ into my studies at Bethel University. This definition rings true. The McKenzie area is nothing impressive. In fact, I wouldn’t consider it a “college town”. It’s small and there isn’t much to do. The architecture at BU isn’t all that impressive, either. But throughout all of the hardships I’ve faced since being here- financial, physical, spiritual, mental, emotional- the one thing that has kept me is that Bethel holds true to who their definition says they are. This IS a house of God. There are college ministries on every corner. Every athletic and arts program director is sure to invest in you. You find a new sense of belonging. In high school, I was often times “on edge”, feeling like the outcast. This fear kept me from living up to my potential. Now, at BU, I’ve learned to do exactly what they’re motto suggests- to “be ME”, and that is accredited to the safe environment created here.
The people and staff here are amazing! super friendly and always willing to help. The dorms are nice and clean and the campus is always clean. The sports programs excel here and there’s always something to do with student life! The campus is always buzzing with excitement for upcoming events that keeps students involved! Defined recommend this college!
Honestly I wish I had more characters to explain. Bethel University is a private Christian institution that boasts the importance of its students and their educational development at the university. My time there was long but cut short due to me being suspended. I did spend almost a full year there so I got the experience of the college. Academic wise I feel bethel university is very easy in that aspect but i due believe with the professors I had they taught lessons in depth in their own way some were good, others were not it’s really hit or miss there. Student life lacks immensely there aren’t many campus events and when they do have them they aren’t the best. Not all the students come out for the activities b/c most of them are repeated things or just plain boring. The events that go on that are fun usually end early. The schools policy and Handbook just need to be reworked in general due to the fact you can be fined for literally anything. Overall I will not return to bethel again
