Benedictine University Reviews
Rating 3.57 out of 5 482 reviews
I am an incoming student athlete coming from Mesa Community College. Where I previously participated on the NJCAA Softball Team at Mesa Community College. During the transfer process to, Benedictine University in Mesa, Arizona, I have felt at home when it came to making the decision to commit to BenU. The staff and Professors were very warm and welcoming upon my very first arrival. And I more than excited to participate in the many programs that Benedictine University has to offer not only as an athlete but as a student interesting in opening her own business as well.
My experience at this school was very bad. The dorms had black mold in them, which sent multiple students to the hospital, and those students had to pay for their own medical bills. Furthermore, the students were only served 1/3 of the food options from the meals we paid for and were promised because the food suppliers went on strike, and the students were not offered a refund, most weekends the only food option was yogurt and fruit. Lisle, IL, the location of Benedictine University is not a college campus. You need a car to get around, everything is at least 2 miles away from the school and there aren't any restaurants or malls that are in walking distance. The list goes on, but outside of student living the professors are pretty understanding when it comes to delays in work based on unforeseen circumstances. The school is good for students that require hands on learning and assisted learning because the class sizes typically range from 10-30 students.
Benedictine University is a great school for those who are interested in a career in the medical field. Especially those who are interested in pre-med or pre-dental. Most students in science majors are within that field so you are surrounded by people who have the same goals as you. The classes are challenging which help you with standardized exams and the challenge of graduate level courses. There are also a lot of clubs, events, and research opportunities that students can get involved in. Overall, BU is a great school especially for those who will be commuting since most students are commuters as well.
