This is a very expensive trade school, for some hard to get in trades, that pretends they are more than that. ArtCenter was excellent at teaching anything related to tools, softwares, techniques, and industry connections. While it's true that many of their instructors are alums (and vice versa), they do teach their respective trades well. The employment situation is really due to the nature of the industries. On the other hand, the intellectual output is worse than that of a high school. There are only a couple instructors who took the academics seriously. Everyone else I studied under was shallow as a puddle when it came to that. The last relevant point is how willing to right wrongs the school was (at least in the department I majored under). While there are many 4- and 5-star aspects of ArtCenter's education, I can't honestly say the whole gets more than 3.
Art Center is definitely a promising school if you are looking to work as a professional artist in the future. The professors have a lot of understanding and knowledge of what they’re teaching. Many of the teachers and faculty are professional artists working in the industry, so there’s lots of networking and connections that allow opportunities for students. However, the tuition is pretty expensive, and there’s no dorms. It’s probably best if you receive some type of scholarship to ease the amount of tuition you pay for school, and you need to find a nearby apartment or house if you’re from out of state.
Education wise, it's a brilliant schools with a lot of helpful and experienced professors. Administrative and social wise, it lacks a lot. Food and housing is a problem, things get promised and then taken back and then vague almost promises are made and then never fulfilled. Diversity wise, it lacks slightly. There are very small groups of hispanic and black people, but in the grand scope of things, there isn't many, so culture shock is a real thing. But yes, your art will improve GREATLY at this school, but you might be a little hungry and tired.
I took the ACX Teens program for Graphic Design during summer from ArtCenter College of Design. The instructor and lessons are very nice and helpful. It was a great experience for students and instructors to communicate and learn graphics 1:1.
I'm currently in the newly minted game design track for Art Center College of Design. Even though I've only been there a year, I can already see my skills as a designer improving at record speed. From the experienced professors to the student body, everyone is passionate about the work they're doing. While I wish the school was more affordable, the knowledge I've gained has been invaluable in the pursuit of my new career.
I don't think there are a lot of schools out there that will prepare young designers for the real world like ArtCenter does. The program is intense hand hard but well worth it.
Art Center was my top choice when choosing my art education. My major is Illustration and it is a very hard major to be in. There is a lot of work but you can see yourself vastly improve throughout the terms. It's nice to be around others who are like-minded as well.
Great learning. Wish they would cut back on the crunch culture though. Only a couple tuition cuts during online classes. Care about their students but need to put more into the faculty so we have more class options.
ACCD should be rated #1 if your desire is to work in any of the majors offered. The art and design classes are geared to a professional education. Don’t go here for sports, partying or general education. You must be self directed and care about your goals. Work hard, learn from professionals and you will leave with the skills and the knowledge to succeed in the real commercial arts fields.
Yeah, I’m old. Graduated in 1982 and was immediately working as a successful commercial photographer in New York.

We pursue a global approach to industry-driven design that investigates every aspect of where and how people live, work and play. “Our department is for young creatives who say: ‘I like the big picture. I want to be impactful. I want to design the idea that drives the project.’” says Environmental Design Chair David Mocarski.
Love the environmental design program!
Really intense and interesting.
The outcomes of this major are super wide.
You can become a architect, interior designer, and furniture designer as well

Just finish my first term in ArtCenter, overall I strongly believe this is the best school for pursuing your bachelors degree. The course, classes are focus on your design skills instead of Liberal Arts. Worth it!
