Arnot nursing program is a very hands on experience that helps better you faster by giving you the opportunities to learn things in class and then apply them on the clinical floor.
AOMC SON is extremely expensive for what it is. To graduate with a Diploma of Nursing or Associates of Nursing costs about $30,000 through AOMC SON. Students were expected to go 6 days a week now which include clinicals on Saturdays. NY informed them that they had too many clinical hours and needed to cut back, but they increased them instead. Half of your classes are credited through Elmira College and the others are a waste as they are done by normal staff and not educators. You still pay college credit prices without receiving college credit for the classes you do at AOMC and not EC. Basically a bait and switch tactic. Your nursing teachers will also degrade you if you have jobs and children. You’re expected to be at the hospital 100% of the time unless you’re sleeping. There is no dorms, there’s no meal plan, and it’s in the worst part of town. You’re paying bachlors price without everything that comes with a bachelors.
Patient's don't get enough to eat. Staff have had to purchase sheet pizza's so they could get filled up! Patient's are constantly subjected to staff fighting with each other. New Dawn only has sex offenders and criminals because no one else wants to be admitted there. The admissions coordinator actually told a female employee that a male college on the unit puts "everyone through an initiation for about a year, and that I would have to put up with that verbal / emotional abuse." NO! This is harassment!! Everyone leave there, and they cannot keep staff due to the abuse and patient's hear this!!!!? Why is this okay? Male employee's don't have to attend "shift change report" but if a female misses a shift change report, then she is written up, but the males don't have to go. One male is given ALL of the interns and has them do his work for him while no females are allowed to have interns. There's a lot of gender DISCRIMINATION there!!!!!!
