Career services is great! They help with resumes, mock job interviews and online job searches. Personnel are exreamly helpful. The professors in each department personally help with job searches, portfolios, and professional appearances. There is even a careers class that teaches you all the steps of how to start a career in today's technology. I finished the class with many networking contacts, a paper and electronic resume, a better understanding of what I really wanted to pursue, career wise, as so much more. ACC and it's faculty go to great lengths to help each student. I can't say enough about my life changing experience at Alvin Community College.

All of the professors and faculty at ACC go out of their way to help each student. I feel I learn more with the small student to teacher ratio classes offered. They also have a wide variety of degree plans and certifercates. It is a great college to start at if you want to transfer to a four year college. They rotate classes so that the class is offered at least once a year. They have online and night classes too. Teachers are flexible and accommodating. The professors I have had use several different teaching styles. They also keep up with technology and are knowledgeable about the courses they teach. I was out of school for 16 years and concerned about returning, the worry was for nothing. The remedial Algebra class had me caught up quick. I was also recently certified to be a Microsoft Office Specialist which was included in the Word Processing class. I feel comfortable at ACC and enjoy going to school. The faculty and student body make things happen.
I am aware that we do not chose our classmates but some of the students are quite rude or negative about it being "Alvin", this make it hard to truly enjoy the experience. Of course this is by chance, I have encountered many classes in which I end up feeling like a small family with my classmates, these classes seem to be the harder classes in which everyone needs help. I would still choose ACC to complete my dual degree because most of the professors will do all they can to help you not only pass, but to also grasp the information.
