Alliance University Reviews
Rating 3.72 out of 5 453 reviews
The teachers and faculty were outstandingly kind and helpful. The school was very international, which was a great way to learn about all kinds of backgrounds. However, the school itself was quite small and only offered some courses in-person.
I did one year of college at Nyack. I did not go to Nyack for the academics. I went more for the community and people. I met some of the most kind-hearted, intentional people at Nyack that truly care about you in every way possible. The academics were ok. They got the job done, I learned some things, but it wasn't anything amazing. The communication from admin to students was quite literally the worst, but of all the admin, Dean Velez was one of the most amazing women that I have met. If you have the chance to get to know her, do it! Overall, not a bad school. The professor are incredible and the students are awesome. If you are looking for a school that values your emotional health and cares about the relationships during your time as a student, then this school is the one for you. Also, if you want to go into ministry, this is a fantastic school, it just wasn't what I was looking for.
Online classes were a great way to lighten the course load for the semester. However, don't take an online course for a class you actually want to learn something from. For the most part, teachers are hard to get in contact with, and place all their emphasis on their in person classes. Nearly all of my online courses were the exact same thing as in-person instruction without the class time. This made some assignments very difficult, as I did not have someone teaching the material necessary for learning.
