I Found My Niche at University of Akron
Student Name: Tyrone Johnson
School: University of Akron
Major: Computer Science
What’s up everyone! My name is Tyrone Johnson, I am a current Senior at The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio! I am majoring in Computer Science w/ a Minor in Computer Information Systems Programming. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio.
First things first is that UA gave me the MOST scholarships to go to school. I attended a Summer program 2 weeks after graduating HS and I’ve been enjoying my time ever since. I won the Fall 2022 Homecoming King Title and I’ve been working as an RA, University Liaison, Tour Guide, and Mentor/Mentee. Through the University of Akron I’ve been able to get internships through The Department of Engineering & Polymer Science! The University itself has had plenty of resources for minority students in STEM such as myself and I’ve been able to take full advantage of all UA has to offer!
Now I’m not going to lie. I’ve never been the type to go out and party, drink, smoke, none of that. Akron is cool, but it’s not always the safest place which is fine because for individuals such as myself, it’s easier for me to just stay on campus, study, focus, and earn my passing grades. I have a solid group of friends who are all on the same mindset in terms of mens self development, financial literacy, working out, and building our network.
