I Found My Niche at North Carolina A&T State University
Student Name: Jewel Nellom
Major: Animal Science
“Hi everyone, my name is Jewel Nellom. I am a sophomore Animal Science student at the Illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. My experience at NCA&T thus far has been great. Meeting new people and making memories has been one of the highlights of my journey here. I am originally from Atlantic City, NJ, but I now reside in North Carolina.
I’ve never been very social, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people. NCA&T has made this possible by having different organizations to join and participate in. I chose to attend North Carolina A&T because of the agricultural department. This department has given me tools to achieve success in my academics so I can fulfill my dream of becoming a veterinary surgeon.
Due to COVID, there have been fewer interactions on campus because of social distancing. The majority of classes are now online. This is challenging for me because I learn better with face-to-face classes, but having family, friends, and professors that care is helping me push to do better with my academics. As a result of online classes, we have more spare time, in which I like to model and help improve my craft.
Although this is an obstacle, I am going to make the best of it. With the wonderful atmosphere and support system, North Carolina A&T is making it possible for me to achieve my goals. Go Aggies! #NCAT” –@j.nellom
