I Found My Niche at Howard University
Student Name: Jade Walters
School: Howard University
Major: Health Education
“Hi! My name is Jade Walters and I am a graduating senior majoring in Health Education with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health with a Sociology minor at Howard University!
Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I lived in a beautiful melting pot of cultures, races, and ethnicities. Going to an HBCU was a no-brainer for me because I wanted to continue being surrounded by such diversity, especially given the chance to get to meet people from all over the African & Black diaspora.
Throughout my time at Howard, I’ve grown tremendously as a Black woman, a scholar, and a content creator. I started my own college and lifestyle blog titled Love, Jade Carson where I produced content such as my e-book, The Ultimate Guide to Acing Your Interview and my #LJCrecommends series, served as a campus rep for companies such as @_ourethos, @wayup, @tinder, and currently @bumble, and even became a Childbirth Doula!
One of my biggest accomplishments is becoming a member of the first business and professional sorority for African-American women, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Delta Phi chapter (@iota.deltaphi). To be surrounded by such amazing and empowering Black business women continuously inspires me to always reach my highest potential.
Howard University accepted me with open arms and I have truly met some remarkable people here. It’s an honor to be graduating in May 2021 from an institution with over 153 years of producing Black excellence!”—@jadecarsonxo @howard1867

Socially, it’s been fun! UCSD is known to be ‘socially dead,’ and I’ve met people who complain about it being that way. They say college is what you make of it—and I 100% vouch for that.
