I Found My Niche at Grinnell College
Student Name: Zoe Gonzalez
School: Grinnell College
“Hey y’all! My name is Zoe Gonzalez, I use she/her pronouns, and I’m a third-year biology major at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
As someone who grew up on the coast, I was pretty unsure about moving to not just the midwest, but also the middle of nowhere. I realized pretty soon after arriving, though, that Grinnell is so much more. Having all of these amazing people from all walks of life in this tiny town in the middle of Iowa, you really get to know people at their core in ways I’d previously never thought possible. As someone with anxiety, I never thought I would be comfortable with doing even half of the socialization that I do now.
Over the years, Grinnell has given me not just amazing people, but a safe space to grow into myself and become a person I’m genuinely proud of, who stands up for others and fights for social justice. I owe a lot to Grinnell and couldn’t be happier with my choice to attend here.” – @zoeallyse
