I Found My Niche at Cottey College
Student Name: Emily Alvarez-Hamilton
School: Cottey College
Major: Criminology and Psychology
“Hey guys!! My name is Emily Alvarez-Hamilton, and I am a sophomore at Cottey College. I’m double majoring in criminology and psychology, and I’m working towards becoming a detective one day! I also run Track and Field here at Cottey. Cottey is a women’s college in Missouri with many traditions. We have so many events here on campus that even my grandmother had the opportunity to participate in! We have events like step sing that gets our new freshmen involved, GP which is our favorite Halloween event, or Hanging of the Greens which is the best dance night around!
Cottey has an amazing faculty that has helped me succeed so much! We are a smaller school which gives us the opportunity to have a closer relationship with our professors and support staff. I have such a strong relationship with my criminology professor, sometimes I think she may want to see me graduate and succeed more than my own mom! She helps push me to succeed and I’ve seen so many others receive the same support from their professors. Cottey also has given me the opportunity to grow into a strong leader. I have joined our student ambassador program, student government club, and I am currently president of CSC, which is our traditions club on campus! I don’t think I would have become the person I am today without the help of all the faculty here at Cottey!
This pandemic has been extremely hard on students but the way Cottey has helped us push through is amazing. Cottey has taken so many precautions to make sure that we stay safe and healthy. Cottey’s staff will also provide any accommodations you need ranging from food requests to academic requests. They will make sure you have everything you need to succeed and achieve your goals.
All in all, Cottey is an amazing women’s liberal arts college that provides an incredible education. This is where you can come to grow, succeed, and meet the closest friends of your life! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to DM me!!💛💙”—@emily.a.h
